From Leigh Lads to Lad HQ
If you’ve been with us since the early days, you’ll know we’ve always been about laughs, local stories and all things Leigh. But having spent some time looking at the content we’ve posted, and the demographics of our audience we felt it was the right time to make some changes.
Leigh will always be our roots, but it’s about more than that. Our community accidentally stretches way beyond Leigh & Wigan. Whether you’re in Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle or London, we provide content that makes people laugh and keeps you updated regardless of borders. Our audience demographics show us that 12% of our regular audience reside in Leigh, 5% in Wigan, and the other 83% is made up of people from different towns and cities across the UK and beyond.
Lad HQ ≠ Lads Only
Let’s clear this up: “Lad” here isn’t about gender. Everyone’s welcome. If you’re open to arguing over whether a barm is a roll (it’s not), or whether it’s lobby or corned beef hash, you’re in.
What’s Staying the Same?
We love Leigh. We’ll still spotlight Leigh’s best bits and share local content as much as possible.
No fluff & easy to view: The no-nonsense approach to posting content & a website that isn’t absolutely filled with adverts will stay the same. There’ll be a couple here and there, but we’ll make sure you can still read articles easily.
What’s Next/New?
We’re starting a new social media channel: ‘Leigh Live‘ & a new website: www.live-news.co.uk/leigh, dedicated exclusively to hyperlocal news. No nonsense, nothing other than content about Leigh allowed. We noticed that there’s not a single news publisher that 100% focuses on the actual town they’re supposed to represent. So Leigh Live aims to fill that gap.

We hear you and we’re sorry. We fully understand there are people who follow us purely because we originally set out to share news and content about Leigh. Leigh’s always going to be where our heart is. We’re sorry you don’t like the direction we’ve chosen to take but overtime we hope you give it a chance and appreciate the fact that it gives us more freedom to post other content and broaden our audience more as well.
